Feb 6, 2014 · Café De Dokter was first opened on 2nd September 1798 by a surgeon at the nearby Binnengasthuis hospital and understandably was patronised by doctors and medical students, hence 'The Doctor' name. This this traditional old Dutch pub (Bruine café) has changed little since. Even the dust appears original.
