In January 1997 “On & On,” Badu's first single, was released and quickly became a hit. The next month, her debut album, Baduizm, for which she wrote all but one of the songs, was released.

Although she has never married, she remains close with all three men. “I'm nowhere near a single mom,” she told The New Yorker in 2016. “I mean, I am, but the fathers are always here.”

During her massive Renaissance Tour last year, Beyoncé wore an oversized metallic hat. Badu made it known she believes her own look was the inspiration. She reposted Beyoncé's outfit on Instagram back in August, writing, “I guess I'm everyone's stylist. Favorite chrome mirror hat,” according to Billboard.

Erykah Badu hasn't eaten meat since the 1980s and has followed a vegan diet since 2006. “It's just what's best for my body. If I was a Lamborghini, I would want to put the best gas in it,” the iconic singer-songwriter told People in 2016.
