Aigai, also Aigaiai, was an ancient Greek, later Roman, city and bishopric in Aeolis. Aegae is mentioned by both Herodotus and Strabo as being a member of the Aeolian dodecapolis. It was also an important sanctuary of Apollo. Wikipedia
