The L. N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, is a Kazakh national research university, and the largest higher education institution in Astana. The university was founded on 23 May 1996 as the result of a merger of Akmola Civil Engineering Institute and Akmola Pedagogical Institute. It was named L. N.
