Ira Thompson Van Gieson was an American neurologist, psychiatrist, bacteriologist and neuropathologist. Ira was born in Long Island in 1866, as the son of Dr. Ransford Everett Van Gieson. He was of Dutch-Jewish heritage. Wikipedia
