Ytrebygda is a large residential area known for Bergen Airport, as well as parks, lakes, and mountain hiking trails like Skageskogen. Several preserved historic houses are now museums, including Siljustøl, once home to a composer, and Hordamuseet, which displays traditional fishing boats and handicrafts. To the south, the University Arboretum and Botanical Garden has a large rhododendron collection and a labyrinth.
