Emeishan is a city in China’s Sichuan Province. It’s the gateway to Mount Emei (also called Emeishan), one of the country’s 4 sacred Buddhist mountains. In the foothills, the 17th-century Baoguo Temple has terraced halls built into the hillside. At the top of the mountain, reached by foot or cable car, the Golden Summit is known for sunrises over the cloud sea, a dense bank of cloud floating below the mountaintop.
