Fushimi Ward

A hilly district between the Uji and Katsura rivers, Fushimi-ku is home to Fushimi Inari, an 8th-century Shinto shrine on a mountain path framed by hundreds of orange torii gates. Fushimi Castle is a replica samurai stronghold set in tranquil gardens. The area is known for its sake breweries, with tastings and exhibits at Gekkeikan Ōkura Sake Museum. Ujigawa Park hosts a riverside cherry blossom festival in spring.
