Straddling the Isère River, the tranquil Alpine area of Bellentre is known for forested mountainsides crossed by hiking and mountain-biking routes. Ski stations such as Les Coches and Montchavin have slopes and cross-country trails, plus casual hotels and eateries. The Vanoise Express is a 2-tiered cable car linking the ski area of La Plagne to the villages of Peisey-Vallandry, and offering views of Mont Blanc.
