Shuri

City in Japan
Historic, atmospheric Shuri centers on medieval Shuri Castle, ringed by park-like grounds with a grove of sacred trees at Sonohyan-utaki. Visitors walk the centuries-old Kinjo Stone Road to enter Tamaudun Mausoleum, a grand tomb for rulers of the island’s former Ryukyu Kingdom. Small shrines, Okinawan restaurants, and old-fashioned teahouses fill the area, with casual student bars and cafes near college buildings.
