Hitachi Province was an old province of Japan in the area of Ibaraki Prefecture. It was sometimes called Jōshū. Hitachi Province bordered on Shimōsa, Shimotsuke, and Mutsu Provinces. Generally, its northern border was with Mutsu. Wikipedia
