Marzahn-Hellersdorf

German borough
The largely residential Marzahn-Hellersdorf borough is known for Gardens of the World, a complex of Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern and other globally inspired gardens built for the 1987 International Garden Show. The borough is a mix of East German-era apartment blocks and quaint, Prussian-era villages, including Alt-Marzahn, where the Bezirksmuseum Marzahn-Hellersdorf has historical exhibits about the borough.
