Yamashiro Province was a province of Japan, located in Kinai. It overlaps the southern part of modern Kyoto Prefecture on Honshū. Aliases include Jōshū, the rare Sanshū, and Yōshū. It is classified as an upper province in the Engishiki. Wikipedia
