The Cathedral Museum represents a very particular reality in the Italian cultural scene.

This specificity lies, first of all, in its juridical condition, long unique in Italy: established in 1929 and transferred in 2000 to the former church of San Romano, the Museum was born from the joint will of the Cathedral Chapter and the Municipality of Ferrara with the purpose of documenting the history of the most important sacred temple of Este spirituality. Regulated by a convention specially developed, it represents an exemplary model of mixed management between private and public.
