This is the handwritten draft of the “Komazawa University School Song,” with lyrics by Kitahara Hakushū and music composed by Yamada Kōsaku. The manuscript consists of two sheets of paper and an accompanying memo.
On the manuscript, there is a musical score handwritten by Yamada Kōsaku, with the signature ‘Komazawa University School Song, Kitahara Hakushū’ written vertically above it. The lyrics for the first through third verses of the anthem are also written on the manuscript. The memo includes two notes regarding the lyrics addressed to Yamada Kōsaku, as well as a notation indicating that the work was created on March 10th, Shōwa 5 (1930), in Tangkangtzu, South Manchuria.
Regarding the musical score, the melody significantly differs from the final version, suggesting that this is an early draft.
