Situated on the east bank of the Daugava River and bordering the Zunds Canal, unassuming Iļģuciems is one of Riga's oldest neighborhoods with a history dating from the 13th century. While the north is dominated by business and industrial parks, the south is home to Nordeku Park, surrounded by casual eateries, and tree-lined residential streets featuring Soviet-style apartment blocks and 19th-century wooden homes.
