Lively Bonn-Zentrum, the city’s largely pedestrian center, is full of restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and shopping malls. Beethoven-Haus, birthplace of the composer, is now a museum with a statue of him nearby. Theater Bonn opera house is joined by several smaller performing arts theaters. The Electoral Palace, a centuries-old castle backed by the sprawling Hofgarten park, is now part of Bonn University’s campus.
