Wo learnt Chinese painting under the well-known Lingnan master, Zhao Shao'ang. He is known for the depiction of lotus flowers in different weather and seasons with a poetic mood. The lotus is a symbol of purity in Chinese culture. Here Wo uses the technique of overlaying washes on fibrous paper to create moist and pastel effects. The lotus flowers provide a graceful shade for the two mandarin ducks, animating the scene with liveliness and warmth.

- Artist's Biography: Wo was born in 1927 in Dongguan, Guangdong and settled in Hong Kong in 1947. Wo studied Western art with the late Lau Kwan-yam and Chinese painting with Zhao Shao'ang. He actively participated in art activities in Hong Kong, having held his first one-man show in Hong Kong in 1955 and joined numerous group shows overseas. He created his hallmark abstract style after a visit to Japan. He resettled in the USA in 1975 and has continued to work in art ever since. Wo excels in painting flowers, birds, fish, tigers and landscapes and is especially noted for depicting lotus. His paintings are in the collection of museums and galleries in USA, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
